Marketplace or an exchange and SSP setup?
Programmatic buying means bidding for single views in an auction: a demand-side platform (DSP) bids, a supply-side platform (SSP) sells the space, and you see where it landed afterwards in a placement report.
| Point | Advoratise | An open exchange bought through a DSP |
|---|---|---|
| How you buy | You pick a named placement and pay a flat fee agreed in advance. | You bid a CPM (a price per thousand views) and take whatever the auction fills. |
| Where it runs | One named site, show or newsletter, written on the booking. | Thousands of domains and apps, listed in a report after the money is spent. |
| Fill rate | There is no fill rate. A booking either runs or the money comes back. | Fill rate decides how much of your budget ever spends, and it moves daily. |
| Fees | One commission, shown on the booking before you agree to it. | An SSP fee, a DSP fee, a data fee and an ad-server fee, stacked on top of each other. |
| Speed and scale | A person on the other side has to accept, so a campaign starts in days. | Live within minutes, and millions of views the same day. |
Where the other way wins
An exchange reaches far more people than our listings can today, spends a large budget in hours, and lets you retarget and cap frequency across the whole web. We cannot match any of that on volume.
Best for
Buyers who care more about knowing the exact site and the exact price than about raw reach.
