How CPM works on Advoratise
Most sellers here do not quote a CPM at all. They quote a flat price for one slot in one send, one episode or one week, and they state the audience size next to it. You divide one by the other and you have the CPM yourself, from two numbers that are both on the listing. That is deliberate: a quoted CPM hides whether the audience number was ever checked, and a flat price plus a stated audience does not.
The mistake people make
Comparing a CPM against one from an ad network. A network CPM usually counts machine-served impressions, many of which were never on screen; a newsletter CPM counts people who were sent the issue. The second number is smaller and worth far more. Compare CPM only against the same kind of inventory.
